Joleen Franklin, the creative force behind Aurora Joleen Designs in Kerrville, Texas, is a multifaceted artist whose vibrant work has become an integral part of the city’s visual identity. A Kerrville native, Franklin returned to her hometown after years abroad, including time spent in Argentina, bringing with her a fresh perspective and a passion for art that reflects the colorful spirit of the Texas Hill Country. Her artistic repertoire spans jewelry, metalwork, paintings, and decals, showcasing her versatility and dedication to her craft. Among her most notable contributions is the “Welcome to Kerrville” mural, a bright and cheerful piece adorning the north side of the Kerrville Convention & Visitors Bureau building, created in collaboration with CVB President and CEO Julie Davis, a fellow Tivy High School alumna. Franklin has also painted a mural on the back of Central Texas Gun & Pawn at 1217 Broadway in Kerrville. Despite embracing a rural lifestyle just outside of town, where she refers to herself as a farmer, Franklin remains deeply connected to the local art scene, infusing her surroundings with creativity and joy.
