Classic Kerrville Eats
Located on the corner of Water and Earl Garrett Street, it’s hard to miss Francisco’s, a staple in Kerrville located in a beautiful and historic building in the center of town. This building has seen many phases, from a mercantile store to a community bank to a saloon (complete with a bordello) to a pool hall, sporting goods store and eventually a shoe store. Francisco took over the building in 1995 and is the perfect person to call this incredible place home since he’s been a local since 1986. The restaurant serves some of the freshest and most authentic Mexican food in Kerrville, and you can choose to sit inside and admire the restaurant’s beautiful dining room and artwork—a great spot for a special occasion, or enjoy an alfresco meal on the restaurant’s sprawling street-side patio and take advantage of Texas’ beautiful year-round weather.

Another delicious restaurant and Kerrville staple is Rails A Café at the Depot. Located in a beautiful fully restored train depot from 1915, the café is a quaint and cozy spot where one can admire the gorgeous Hill Country views while feasting on some of the best homemade American cuisine in town. (Let’s put it this way, there’s a reason this place is a favorite among locals.) So, while you might initially come here just to check out the décor inside this historic building, you’ll stay for the steaks, pasta, burgers and more.

Grape Juice is another spot that foodies shouldn’t skip. Known for its wine selection (get it…grape juice?), it stocks the shop with wines from around the world, so you can journey to Argentina or Tuscany without ever leaving Kerrville. Pair a glass of white or red with something tasty from its food menu; you never know what delicacies you may find. If wine isn’t your sip, it also has a great selection on tap and the back patio is pet-friendly, so you can bring your furry friend or make a new one! The wine bar also has a daily happy hour (yes, daily) where you’ll save $2 off all pints and glasses of wine from 5-6:00 p.m. every day.

And speaking of beer, Pint & Plow Brewing Co. serves some of the best-handcrafted beer and locally sourced food in town. Sit at the bar with its view of the fermentation tanks and get a tasting flight and a pizza, or head out to the patio and get a photo under the “Kerrville is the New Kerrville” neon sign. From its signature San Y’bon Lager to its La Madrugada Porter, you can’t go wrong with whatever pint tinkles your fancy here, and grab a cup of joe at the coffee bar when you need an after lunch (or after flight tasting) pick-me-up. You can even take some beer with you to go!
